Our Vision
Seeing a better community in the future
VIA Balance envisions a community where everyone has the security, freedom, resources, and support to work toward a life of meaning and belonging.
Our vision is based on two assumptions:
- We all want to express ourselves and live a life of meaning and impact, and we want to live in a society where we have the security, freedom, resources, and support to work (in our own unique way) toward that goal.
- We desire a sense of belonging, and we have an innate capacity for personal connectivity that is much deeper than differences in beliefs/opinions.
Our Philosophy
Looking at our community now
We see so many issues critical to the well-being of our world and our own community, and our experiences often lead us to work on a particular issue of interest. We can get so wrapped up in working on our issue that we overlook deeper issues such as community trust, connectivity, and focus, but these ‘invisible,’ universal issues provide a foundation for making and sustaining progress on our more 'visible' issue of interest.
Suppose you are committed to a cause and you achieve your advocacy goal by 'doing whatever it takes.' If your actions have alienated the broader community and have distracted the community's focus because your actions appear to be extreme, or if you have undermined a basic trust and connectivity with the broader community then the progress you achieved will not be sustained long term. So, in order to sustain long-term progress in building a better community, our 'visible' issue of interest must always be accompanied by a deeper commitment, a sacrifice to equally emphasize an 'invisible' advocacy to fight distrust, division, and distraction.

With experience in grantwriting and program evaluation, VIA Balance can:
- Review your grant proposal and offer advice on adding data analysis or evaluation components that will strengthen your proposal.
- Enhance the evaluation skills of your staff by guiding their development of a program evaluation plan (so that you can demonstrate to funders that you follow a rigorous process in evaluating your program performance).
